Planning Your Layout
No woman is an island, so when we were doing some research on bathroom layout plans we came upon some great resources to help you on your quest for bathroom nirvana. Here are two good bathroom layout resources we thought we would share with you. One is free from Rona and the other from Plan3D is a paid subscription.
When you are first trying to figure out what features to include in your bathroom layout, it’s sometimes difficult to see it all put together with so many bits and pieces of the puzzle floating around in your head. Being able to virtually walk through those ideas enables you to see potential problems and exploit new creative ideas without breaking a sweat.
Rona has a free interactive design software interface from 2020 Technologies that allows you to create your bathroom in three dimensions. Their tag line is, “Create and visualize 3D living space designs as if you were there.” In a sense you can literally walk through your bathroom before you build it!
- Microsoft Windows XP / Vista
- Internet Explorer 6.0+
In order to use Rona’s free design tool you must agree to their user agreement and install ActiveX which is a harmless piece of software that allows your computer to display the graphics. What’s nice about this free visualization tool is that you can move around the layout and rotate the design so you get different points of view of your potential bathroom.
Get it Done Right With Plan3D
Another Online Bathroom Design Software is Plan3D.
Plan3D.com is a revolutionary concept in home design! Their intuitive online interface allows the user to construct and manipulate a 3D model of their home or bathroom online. It’s easy enough for homeowners and powerful enough for professionals to use. While this online tool is not completely free, with a monthly usage fee of $2.95 USD if you buy a yearly subscription of a one time purchase price of $35, this is a fair price for the tools they provide.
These are both great tools to help you visualize your dream bathroom. Whether you decide to go the free route at Rona or the subscription route of Plan3D, it is important to first plan your bathroom layout with a detailed blueprint.
These online resources go one step further and actually allow you to virtually walk through your layout so you can see the precise locations of your bathroom fixtures and easily experiment with different design ideas. Just remember to work out a plan that conforms to municipal minimum clearance requirements, fits within your lifestyle and creates the most efficient use of the bathroom space you have.
