Doug Wilson, Creative Designer or Mad Renovation Scientist?
Born and raised in Central Illinois this farmer boy always looked to have a promising future. Being student council president, maintaining good grades, keeping up with his chores and attending theatrical and choir rehearsals you can tell Doug had a dedicated and determined personality from the get go. After starring in college and professional productions, including Grease and Annie Get Your Gun, Doug developed a knack for building and designing and in time landed on a list of the most sought-after trades’ people. You may recognize the name from the present most popular decorating show “Trading Spaces” because he later landed a job as one of the designers on the show.
By watching “Trading Spaces” you will soon discover that Doug Wilson has a tendency to let his creativity over power his planning. I entirely agree with his approach, using lots of originality and planning should be the way you approach your bathroom renovation projects. No doubt about it, you should have an outline of what you want to accomplish, in say your bathroom but don’t let the planning over power your creative vision. Sure you’re going to have to sweat a little to get your renovations done but who is to say you can’t have fun at the same time!
Doug also has a habit of naming his rooms; my take on this is that it helps him stay on track with his vision of the finished product. With such a vast imagination Doug Wilson doesn’t have a problem letting his creativity fly while coming up with a design outline. But I know many people have trouble deciding what type of style to apply to their bathrooms so I thought I’d take it upon myself to name a few. If you’re looking for “a simple yet particularly appealing” style take a look at Contemporary, Traditional, Country, Modern, Eclectic, Mediterranean, Old World, Transitional, and Tuscan. Or if you’re looking for a change from the norm check out Tropical, Asian, Cottage, African Safari, Romantic, and Arts and Crafts. Hopefully those themes were useful in helping you get those creative juices flowing. Need even more help, well just check out Doug Wilson and the rest of the crew on "Trading Spaces".
