Small Bathroom Renovations by Design

Based upon the average size of most standard bathrooms and half baths (sometimes called guest bath), for the everyday homeowner a small bathroom renovation is pretty much a given. In most homes space is usually at a premium and unfortunately not all bathrooms can be the roomy lavish spaces as depicted in the trendy home improvement magazines at the news stands. The most common question that we get about small bathrooms is how to maximize the space to get the most bang for your buck without knocking down the walls. So while the actual space in your tiny average sized bathroom never really changes, the real question that remains is how do you create the illusion of a more spacious bath within the limited confines of the space that you already have in your loo? I may be dating myself but being a parent, one of my favorite TV shows on PBS, was “Bob the Builder”. I remember spending many Saturday mornings with my son watching the show and thinking, man I wish I had this when I was a little kid. The show made its TV debut in the UK in 1998. Set in and around a construction yard in a small town, Bob and his loveable gang of machines took on projects around town to help the town’s people.

When you feel frustrated just think of Bob and the Can-Do Crew and how they demonstrated the power of positive-thinking, problem-solving, teamwork and follow-through. Like most projects, if you break them down into segmented measurable goals, then they are easily manageable and don’t appear as incredulous as they first appeared to be.
