Frank Bielec, a designer off of one of TV’s most popular decorating shows “Trading Spaces” would agree with us when we ask… what happened to our educational system? With a bachelor’s degree in education, masters of fine arts degree, a master’s in education, and eight years of teaching experience, Frank has dealt with first hand how teaching transformed from educating our children to training them to take mandated “cookie cutter” tests. For that very reason Frank left teaching and later landed a job on Trading Spaces.

It’s kinda funny how Frank Bielec has a job as an interior designer on “Trading Spaces” considering he is not trained as one and doesn’t even think of himself as one. Even though he lacks the training and experience he still manages to design rooms that home owners love. Frank is able to achieve these amazing results because he gears his designs specifically towards the home owner’s lives. I think that my fellow BathroomGurus should follow his lead. Instead of following some rogue routine of what someone else thinks makes a dream bathroom; think positively about what you want, consider it an alternative to be free with your creativity.

Without any boundaries what would you want your bathroom to look like? If the bathroom resembles your style and your way of life, then it doesn’t matter if it’s not “what’s in” right now. You’re the one living in your home and using your bathroom everyday, so personalize it to suit you and or your family. Make it an enjoyable and functional place to go into on a daily basis. You never know maybe your inner designer persona is waiting to break out of that closet and create something wondrous and incredible. Take a chance, be crazy, but do it smartly…what have you got to lose?
