The Future is Here Now
If anyone has seen the movie Demolition Man that stared Wesley Snipes and Sylvester Stallone, where a cop is brought out of suspended animation in prison to pursue an old ultra-violent enemy who is loose in a nonviolent future society, they will recall a scene where Sylvester Stallone goes into a bathroom and in front of him is 3 sea shells from which he is somehow suppose to use them to clean himself after he has used the toilet.
To his chagrin he is so perplexed that he never does figure it out and neither do we the audience. I kind of had that same feeling when I first saw the Ripple Faucet by Touch 360. Now if this isn’t futuristic then I don’t know what is. Where’s the faucet I asked myself, intrigued?
You may be asking yourself that very question when you see the incredible new concept in faucet design.
The Ripple faucet is not your typical run of the mill faucet; in fact the “faucet” is integrated right into the vanity basin, making it look like something that you would see straight out of a Science Fiction movie but the reality of the matter is that you’re not dreaming and the technology is here today.
The faucet itself has a round rippled facade with a tiny metal ball on the surface that controls the temperature and flow of the water. Moving the ball away from the center increases water flow and moving around the circles controls the temperature.
This is all accompanied by LED’s under the surface of the interface that changes color and intensity as you adjust the temperature and flow of the water.
Design That is Innovative and Functional
The Ripple Faucet has two channels, one on the left and one on the right and gives the illusion of hot and cold water flowing to converge and cascading over an elegant spout and down into the sink.
This faucet is not only visually off the charts but it also holds a deceptive secret because instead of relying on a hot water heater, it instead uses a flash heater in combination with a servo unit that controls the distribution of water between the two channels. So in reality the water coming from each channel is the same temperature which prevents scalding from the hot water channel.
Technology has taken bathroom product design to a whole new level of interaction and convenience. The Ripple Faucet by Touch 360 is a prime example when art, design and functionality meet to not only make our lives easier but also to make it more interesting as well.
