When I first saw the price tag on this bathtub I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was like, you’ve got to be kidding me. Who in their right mind would plop down that kind of cash for a bathtub? Who indeed?
And that’s where it all began. I just had to know what made this tub so special that someone would be willing to just whisk it away to their own private oasis. I mean, where ever they were taking it had to be someplace really special considering the incredible price tag.
Visions of sugar plumbs danced in my head of palaces and mansions secluded in the far reaches of some lush countryside surrounded by high spiked metal fences, hidden away from the prying eyes of the general public and patrolled by guard dogs and security officers.
The kind of lifestyle that you and I could only dream of; huge dinner parties where movie stars, presidents, dignitaries from around the word came to visit just because they wanted to be seen by the media as being in the place to be. This is the stuff dreams are made of!
So let us begin this journey by first asking ourselves who is this Herbeau and what makes him think he can charge so much for a simple everyday thing like a bathtub? For one thing the Herbeau name has been around for more than 150 years.
Time Tested Quality
For those of you that would like to know, from chamber pots and wooden buckets to the gleaming tubs and toilets of today, the history of Herbeau has become synonymous with the evolution of the kitchen and bath. It was in 1857, Louis Herbeau opened one of the first showrooms in France devoted exclusively to L’Art du Sanitaire (the art of sanitary ware).
The Herbeau showroom in Lille rapidly gained a following among socialites and aristocrats. From Art Nouveau and Art Décor, these early bath suites were entrenched in the artistic movements of the time .
Fast forward to today, in 2004, Herbeau Creations moved into a brand-new 20,000 square foot building in Naples, FL. The building serves as the company’s North American head-quarters and distribution hub where the traditions of over a century have now been passed on to the master craftsman of today.
A company steeped in tradition; today Herbeau makes faucets, sinks, tubs and toilets that feature the latest in plumbing and artistic innovations. You be the judge do you want a piece of history in your bathroom hideaway or do you want to settle for the mundane.
